Star Mosque(Tara Masjid),Dhaka

This unusual mosque, with its striking mosaic decoration, dates from the early 18th century, although it has been radically altered. It was originally built in the typical Mughal style, with four corner towers. Around 50 years ago a local businessman financed its redecoration with Japanese and English china tiles, and the addition of a new veranda. A bridge illuminated with neon lights, nicely kept lake and a restaurant by the lake (Captains world). However, you may only chill there if you have defense reference. You will be asked about the referense once entering the Cantonment Area, and then again once you are entering Nirjhor Residential area. The guards can get specific such as what batch, or rank is the defense reference person you are referring to. They are quite strict. Say you are only here to get a bite in that Triveni restraurant and you entered Cantonment with a defense reference.
